Strengths

Weaknesses

Mark your calendar: November 19, 2026. After two delays — from 2025 to May 26, 2026, then to November — Grand Theft Auto VI is finally weeks away. Rockstar is in full marketing mode, and digital preload opens November 12, a week before launch.

What's confirmed

GTA VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at $80 for the Standard Edition and $100 for the Ultimate Edition. It's set in Vice City and the wider fictional state of Leonida, starring dual protagonists Jason and Lucia, whose story spirals from an easy score gone wrong into a criminal conspiracy.

Earlier this month, Rockstar gave a rare interview to LOVE Magazine (issue 27) about writing the two leads. The takeaway: Jason and Lucia were written as vulnerable yet tough, "perfectly imperfect" people who learn from each other, with Lucia conceived with an immigrant background rooted near Liberty City. Rockstar also stressed they're deliberately avoiding direct political references — their version of the modern world has to be "more over the top than real life."

On the tech side, new footage showed off hardware ray tracing in the overhauled RAGE engine: real-time reflections on car paint, building windows, and wet pavement. Highway scenes show dozens of detailed vehicles with no draw-distance drops, and underground street racing — neon-lit car meets included — looks like a major gameplay pillar.

The PC version: still a question mark

The million-dollar question. As of today, Rockstar has not announced a PC version at all. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said on the May earnings call only that the game had been announced for consoles so far, while noting the company's hits typically reach every platform eventually.

But a GamesBeat report (October 13, citing four anonymous sources) claims a PC version is targeting Q1 2027 — just months after consoles, far faster than GTA V's 1-year-7-month wait. Rockstar hasn't commented. Treat it as a strong rumor, not a promise.

Related: The Verge reported Microsoft had secured exclusive cloud streaming rights for GTA VI, which Xbox immediately denied. Their chief strategy officer confirmed the game "will not be streaming exclusively or to PC." So for PC players: wait, or find a console.

Pre-launch checklist

  • Pre-orders are live, preload starts November 12. If your connection is slow, clear storage now — modern Rockstar games are never small.
  • Editions: Standard $80 vs Ultimate $100. Wait for the full Ultimate bonus breakdown before deciding; don't FOMO.
  • Don't trust "PC download" links: every GTA launch brings a wave of scams and malware disguised as PC builds. Rockstar's official channels are the only source.

One month. Vice City awaits.
